KTM, Europe’s second largest motorcycle manufacturer presents the
largest selection of models in the history of the company as well as a
range of exciting new innovations at “INTERMOT” the largest trade fair
of its kind.
The high point on the KTM stand 2006 is the entirely newly developed 690 Supermoto. Driven by an all-new single-cylinder engine with 63 hp, reduced vibration, electronic fuel injection, an easy to operate APTC clutch and a new 6-gear transmission, KTM claim that this bike not only sets new benchmarks in terms of top performance, it also represents a strong statement by the KTM brand concerning the single cylinder. An extremely light weight of only 152 kg, stable frame, adjustable suspension elements and high performance brakes should make the 690 Supermoto a formidable machine and the most powerful single cylinder Supermoto machine of all time according to the Austrian manufacturer. KTM also launched a new high specification 950 Supermoto R to complement the standard 950 Supermoto. As well as producing new and exciting models, KTM has also been intensively engaged in matters of safety. To ensure the best possible protection for all offroaders, KTM has presented the first-ever prototype of the Neck Brace protective system. Developed in close cooperation with the well-known doctor Dr. Chris Leatt, the Neck Brace protector offers protection, particularly for injuries to the neck area. Numerous offroad riders, including the entire KTM factory team are now using the new system. KTM aims to further develop the neck brace for series production and to make this safeguard available for all offroad riders.
