Stauffer led them into the 1st corner from Turnbull, Baird and Charlton but Baird got the better of Turnbull in turn 1 and moved up into 2nd. A couple of corners later Baird took Stauffer for the lead. Krusty Fergusson got a diabolical start and spent the first half of lap 1 in the middle of the field but by the start of lap 2 the hard charging Mobil Honda rider had fought his way up to 5th. Stauffer and Turnbull through on Baird. A sparking Charlton took Baird for 3rd but Fergusson took both of them in the next corner in a great move. Stauffer still leads from Turnbull but Krusty is on a mission and will surely take the lead soon. Turnbull through on Stauffer for the lead. Krusty under Stauffer on the brakes and half a lap later got great drive onto the main straight, but so did a heap of others.... Krusty went into turn 1 with the lead after the first 6 went down Gardner straight 6-wide! Charlton up into 2nd and Curtain up to 4th. Curtain up to 3rd on lap 5 and like Charlton is making plenty of sparks from their sparky knee-sliders. Charlton got sideways which let Curtain and Turnbull through. Kevin Curtain is trying to catch Krusty now but the Mobil Honda man now has a handy lead. Baird goes from 4th to 2nd after getting a great tow on the straight. Turnbull under Curtain for 3rd. So as they commence the final lap the race order is - Fergusson, Baird, Curtain, Turnbull, Charlton, Stauffer. Krusty has a good lead but the battle for 2nd is ferocious. Turnbull back through on Curtain. Curtain around both Baird and Turnbull in MG for 2nd. Adam Fergusson takes a fantastic and well deserved win after battling through most of the field. A lot of Aussie race fans go to the GP's and World SuperBike rounds at great expense but do not bother to attend their own local ARRC round. The Australian 250 Production and SuperSport races at Phillip Island today are like all the ARRC rounds, packed with close racing and hard fought battles. Couple this with cheaper admission and I know where the best value for race fans is.........
