British Superbike Championship - Brands Hatch Preview

The British Superbike Championship arrives at Brands Hatch circuit this weekend for the penultimate meeting of the 2000 season, with championship favourite Neil Hodgson and three-times former British Superbike Champion Niall Mackenzie relishing the opportunity of returning to the Indy Circuit where the series kicked off almost six months ago.

Fireworks are expected for the final four rounds of the MB4U series as just 36 points separate the leading trio. GSE Racing’s Neil Hodgson trails series leader Chris Walker by just six points and leads third place Ducati rider, John Reynolds by 30 points. With 100 points still up for grabs,
Hodgson has only one strategy, and that’s to win as many of the remaining races as possible and claim his first ever British Superbike title for the team.

“I’m really fired-up and can’t wait to return to Brands Hatch this weekend,” said Hodgson, who earned the respect of motorcycle racing fans around the globe with his remarkable wild card victory in the Superbike World Championship European round at the Kent circuit last month. “I would have preferred to have been racing on the GP circuit for obvious reasons, but the Indy Circuit is still one of my favourites and we’ve got a great setting from the World Superbike round which we’ll use as a starting point. I’m feeling incredibly focussed and will be going all out for the results that will put me in the strongest possible position for the final showdown at Donington Park - another of my favourite tracks!”

Australian Marty Craggill suffered no lasting effects from the second race crash that sidelined him at Mallory Park and will be back in action on the Kent circuit in a bid to salvage something from his injury- ravaged season.

The gaggle of Australian riders in British SuperSport and SuperStock will be out to gain some more points to climb even higher in the championship.  4 out of the top 6 placed riders in British SuperSport are all Aussies!
