A disappointing Brands Hatch for Chris Vermeulen
|
Chris Vermeulen , British Road Racing Championships, Round 11, Brands Hatch QUALIFYING Qualifying for both the Superstock and the Supersport race was a continuation of the previous weekends problems, too much time spent in the pits and not enough on the track resulted in fairly disappointing qualifying positions. "Its frustrating at times, but as the saying goes that's racing. We have had the toughest weekend so far this year mechanically, both bikes had problems throughout qualifying and it has made it hard to get to the pointy end of the field." said Chris. The Superstock race ended early, after a promising start the temperature gauge started to rise and put and end to any further participation. "I got away well and thought that I may be in with a bit of a chance, but the engine temperature went through the roof and left me with no alternative but to pull in. There is no chance of winning the Superstock Championship now but we gave it a good go." said Chris. The Supersport race was run on a wet track, and after a slow start, 15th after the first lap Chris started to forge his way to the front, in 5th place after some aggressive racing and looking strong the mechanical gremlins resurfaced, unable to continue it was another early finish and another DNF. "Overall it has been a tough weekend, I really wanted to finish the season off strongly, I haven't won a Supersport race this season so I was keen to get a win, it just wasn't to be this weekend." said Chris. It has been a disappointing second half of the season after such a spectacular start to the year. "It's been hard, but I've really enjoyed the racing and the people are great I would really like to finish the year off well so I've got my fingers crossed it will be a good final race meeting at Donington." said Chris. The final meeting will be held on the weekend of the 7/8th October and the last World Supersport meeting on the 15th of October. For a profile on Chris go here. |
