Grand Prix 2000 - Round 10 - Germany - 250 Race

Jacque left from pole and he got a a great jump at the start to benefit from it, a few riders went in to the gravel at the 1st corner, Vincent, Philippe, Waldmann and Australia's Anthony West all ran through the kitty litter but managed to rejoin the track.  Jacque, Ukawa, Melandri, Nakano.  Ukawa is attacking Jacque straight away but the Frenchmen looks to have his measure at this early stage.  West in 28th after his off-track excursion.

Jacque & Ukawa have broken away a little from Melandri and Nakano who battled for 3rd with Nakano gaining the upperhand on lap 3.  Melandri ran off the track to lose a couple of seconds and his 4th place to Katoh on lap 4.

The 250 pace is hot around this very tight Sachsenring circuit where Jacque's pole time would have also put him on the front row of the 500 grid!

Ukawa started to show his nose to Jacque on lap 8 with Nakano further back in 3rd.  Melandri must be suffering from some problems as he has slipped back to 14th.

Nakano started to show some speed with 21 laps to go and started to close his 4.3 second gap down to the leaders.  But Jacque and Ukawa also upped their pace.  Anthony West up to 16th place.

18 laps to go and Jacque has pulled out a couple of seconds over Ukawa and looks great.

11 laps to run and Jacque has extended his healthy lead over Ukawa out to nearly 7 seconds and making it look easy.  West in 15th and being hunted by Waldmann at every corner but the young Aussie has always proved a difficult man to pass and here at the Sachsenring he is proving that point once again.  Jacque, Ukawa, Nakano & Katoh are the leaders with 7 laps to run.

Waldmann finally through on West for what was by now a 12th place.

Jacque ended up taking an easy 12 second win over Ukawa and a further 10 seconds back to Nakano who took the bottom rung on the podium.   Waldmann ended up getting up to 8th and West 10th.
