Grand Prix 2000 - Round 13 - Valencia

Nieto led them around the first lap and the race order as they commenced lap 2 was Nieto followed by Vincent, Borsoi & Locatelli.

Locatelli took Nieto on lap 3 and Azuma also went through on Nieto but took until lap 6 to do so. Locatelli had 1.6 seconds over Azuma by lap 7 and Ui had moved past Nieto into 3rd.

Ui set the fastest lap on the 8th time around and moved past Azuma to take 2nd.

12 laps to go and Locatelli is being slowly caught by Azuma with only 1.2 seconds separating them, Ui 3rd, Nieto 4th.

Azuma under Locatelli for the lead with 11 laps to run but Locatelli went back through a lap later and the Derbi team-mates Ui and Nieto joined the leading duo.

6 laps to run and the race order remained the same but the 4 had stretched apart a little with around a second between 1st and 2nd and another second back to Ui and Nieto.

Nieto had stayed in station behind his team-mate and championship contender but on lap 20 decided to go past. His pit-board told him to let Ui back through but Nieto chose not to do so for a couple of laps before he finally let the championship contender and Derbi team-mate back through for 3rd and the extra points that entails.

2 laps to go and the race order remains the same as it did to the finish line.
