Grand Prix 2000 - Round 15 - Pacific - 250 Race

Jacque got a great start from the 3rd row and Katoh led them into turn 1 where there is a huge pile up involving 4 or 5 riders but none of the fallers was a championship contender.

Katoh, Nakano, Ukawa, Melandri, Battaini, Jacque, West, Waldmann is the race order.  

Battaini crashes.  Jacque into 5th.

Jamie Robinson hit the dirt on lap 3.  Melandri under Ukawa for 3rd.  Katoh and Nakano have cleared out a little leaving Melandri, Ukawa and Jacque to battle for 3rd.

Katoh looks fast on the straights but Nakano always gains back the ground under brakes.  

On lap 6 Katoh leads from Nakano with nearly 3 seconds back to the battle for 3rd place.  Anthony West up into 6th.

Jacque takes Ukawa and sets out after Melandri.  Katoh set the fastest lap on the 9th time around with a 1:52.9.

Lap 13 and Nakano remains behind Katoh who has 3 tenths on the Yamaha rider.  Porto into the dirt on lap 16.

Katoh resets the fastest lap on lap 16 with a 1:52.835.

Katoh takes the win in a fairly processional race for a 250 GP.
