IOM TT - Wednesday May 31 Report

The news from yesterday's (Wednesday) Isle Of Man practice sessions is that Joey Dunlop clocked the fastest lap for the day on his factory engine equipped VTR SP1, Formula-1, machine.  Dunlop put in a lap of 119.34mph - still a long way short of David Jeffries' 124.43mph lap which is the fastest F1 practice lap thus far in TT fortnight 2000.

Jeffries took his production R1 Yamaha to the fastest proddie lap - 120.94mph.   Adrian Archibald meanwhile, broke the Junior 600cc lap record, with a speed of 120.33mph.  The 600cc record was set in 1997 by Ian Simpson at 119.86mph. Other leaders from Wednesday morning included Ian Lougher in the Lightweight (250cc) and Chris Goose in the Ultralightweight (125cc).

The weather on the Island was good, but the long range forecast isn't looking too good at all.  Heavy rain was expected for Wednesday evening, with showers for the remainder of the week - not good news for the F1 race on Saturday.
