Grand Prix 2000 - A TWO DAY TEST FOR REPSOL HONDA AT MUGELLO
Mugello, 10 to 11th of August, 2000   -   Okada not present

Team Repsol YPF Honda riders, World Champion Alex Criville and Sete Gibernau, had their summer holidays interrupted to complete a two-day test on Thursday and Friday at Mugello, in Italy.

Tady Okada could not be present after crashing out twice at the Suzuka 8 Hours race held in late July. Extremelly hot temperatures and the track conditions after F-1 tests had been held, did not stop them to get some good results and leave the circuit satisfied.

ALEX CRIVILLÉ - "I've given many laps to the circuit so as not to lose contact with the bike before the Czech Republic Grand Prix. We've focused on the bike's geometry, testing new links which basically affect the rear suspension. Fifty laps today, that is approximately, 320 kilometres which has let me compare two different set-ups, what we call the "standard" one and the other one with the new links. Now that the contract with HRC and Team Repsol YPF Honda has been signed for the 2001, I feel much happier and willing to show this at the next grand prix in Brno".   Lap time: 1m 54.1s

SETE GIBERNAU - "I've felt comfortable on the bike during this two days at Mugello. On Thursday we spent the day testing the tyres endurance for race distances, whilst today we've focused on the bike's geometry. I've given 97 laps to the circuit which is not bad!!! Although I think I could have been faster still, it was too hot really.  The most important is that I've been consistently riding in the lows 1'54s and that was this year's race pace".   Lap time: 1'54.3
