TROY BAYLISS

Troy Bayliss was born in Taree (Australia) the 30rd of March 1969.

Bayliss started racing in 1992 on a Kawasaki KR-1 in the 250 cc Production Class.

1993 Troy moved up to a Kawasaki 600 and raced a few national events.

1994 Troy rode the same bike in the Australian 600 Championship finishing sixth. He also won the 600 race at Bathurst.

In 1995 he rode in the Australiana 600 Championship finishing second.

In 1996 the first year in the Australian Superbike Championship riding a Kawasaki. He finished third in Championship.

1997, Troy was second in the Australian Superbike Championship with a Suzuki. He also finished fifth in both the races of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island. He was also 6th  in the 250 GP Grand Prix of Phillip Island.

1998 He moved to England to race the British Superbike Championship riding for the GSE Ducati INS Racing Team. Troy finished eighth in the Championship.

1999 British Championship, again with the GSE Ducati INS Racing Team.  Troy won the Championship by 28 points, having 6 wins, 6 pole positions, 5 time on the front row (excluding pole positions) and 14 podium finishes.

2000  Troy started racing for the Ducati Vance & Hines team (USA) AMA Superbike Championship. Bayliss set pole position with the American Ducati in the Daytona 200 Miles held in March but fell during the race and left fellow Aussie Mladin to take the win.
  Troy then moved up to stand in for Carl Fogarty aboard the 996 Ducati in World SuperBike.  His first race on Foggy's bike was at Sugo.

Troy Bayliss is married to Kim and they have two children, Mitchell and Abbey.
