Bostrom out of the factory Ducati squad

Ducati Infostrada has announced a new World Superbike Championship line-up in an attempt to realise the full potential of the 996 Factory bike in one of the unluckiest seasons ever for the Bologna manufacturer.

Starting with the Hockenheim round, Troy Bayliss and Juan Borja will be defending the colours of the Ducati Infostrada team and Ben Bostrom will continue his learning curve in Europe with Ducati NCR.

The incident in Australia that led to WSBK champion Carl Fogarty being out of action for several months has created a different situation from the one at the start of the year and Ducati has decided to modify its race strategy in the light of these new developments.

For this reason, starting from Hockenheim, Ducati's WSBK attack will be spearheaded by three riders:

  • Troy Bayliss, twice fourth on his debut with the Ducati Infostrada 996 Factory bike at Monza, and 1999 British Superbike champion with Ducati.
  • Juan Bautista Borja, Ducati NCR rider this season, who now becomes part of the Ducati Infostrada team structure after his positive performances in the first part of the season and in private testing last week at Misano.
  • Ben Bostrom, who will race in the remaining rounds of the World Superbike Championship with a Ducati 996 run by the NCR team with direct technical support from Ducati Corse. This will enable Bostrom to continue his learning curve this year in Europe without all the pressure created by having to be number 1 rider for the factory team following Fogarty's incident.

Meanwhile the rehabilitation of the four-time world champion is continuing with the hope that Fogarty will be present at the Brands Hatch round. Further information on a possible return date for Fogarty will be available after specialist checks on June 8.

When Fogarty returns, Ducati Infostrada will enter three bikes for the remaining rounds of the season for Fogarty, Borja and Bayliss.
