World SuperBike 2000 - Round 10 - Brands Hatch - Race 2

Bayliss got the jump with Edwards, Walker & Chili right on his case.  Hodgson under Walker for 4th.  Yanagawa and Corser down and it looks as though Corser may have been hit by his bike and maybe badly injured.  A disaster for Troy Corser's championship hopes if an injury sidelines him for any races at all, with the final round of the championship under a cloud of maybe being cancelled if he misses any races he can basically kiss his championship chances goodbye.  The red flag is out again so we will be due a re-start as soon as they can clear the circuit of debris.

The re-start was a pretty even affair but Bayliss stuck it under Hodgson into turn 1 and held him out in a very aggressive, but fair move.  Bayliss, Edwards, Hodgson, Walker, Haga, Chili, Yanagawa, Slight.

Haga through on Walker for 4th on lap 2.  Hodgson under Edwards into turn 1 as they commence lap 3.  Hodgson through on Bayliss, the Aussie gets it back, Hodgson takes it again.

Bayliss set the fastest lap on the 4th time around but Hodgson still holds the lead and a gap of a few tenths on the Aussie.  Edwards 3rd, Haga 4th.  Hodgson sets the fastest lap on lap 5.  Chili through on Walker for 5th.

Chili through on Haga for 4th on lap 8.  Hodgson and Bayliss are still out in front with the Brit' having the upper hand.  Edwards still holds 3rd but is nearly 2 seconds adrift of the 2nd placed Bayliss.  Bostrom into the pits but makes it back onto the track after the team made some changes to the bike.

Chili and Haga are catching the 3rd placed Edwards who will be keen to turn Corser's bad fortune to his advantage by extending his points lead.   Slight into the gravel.

Lap 11 - Hodgson still out in front with about 6 tenths over Bayliss, 3rd placed Edwards is starting to be hunted by Chili & Haga.  Borja in the dirt.

By lap 15 Hodgson had really cleared out and extended his lead over Bayliss out to 1.8 seconds.  Haga through on Chili who has been frustrated by his attempts to put a pass on Edwards who is in 3rd and four seconds behind Bayliss.

Haga and Chili both through on Edwards with 9 laps to go.   Hodgson has extended his lead even further and now has 3 seconds over Bayliss.   By the time they had 7 laps to go Hodgson had 4 seconds over Bayliss but his 2nd place was in no real danger from Haga and Chili.  Edwards 5th position is not safe though as Yanagawa and Walker are only 2 seconds behind the Texan.

Chili through on Haga with 4 laps to run.  Hodgson is leading by a country mile from Troy Bayliss.  Unless one of them falls down the scene is set for a show of Ducati dominance in race 2.  Yanagawa under Edwards and up into 5th with 3 laps to go.  Walker may also catch the Texan before race end.

Chili has left Haga behind and is actually closing on Bayliss but with only 1 lap to go it is doubtful the Italian will be able to get close enough to Troy to endanger the Australian's 2nd place.  Hodgson has such a huge lead that he is performing wheelies on the final lap and takes an easy, well relatively easy, win.
