World SuperBike 2000 - Round 11 - Assen - Race 2

Edwards leads them through the dry 1st turn closely followed by Haga.   Haga hits the front, Edwards 2nd, Bayliss 3rd, Chili 4th.  Chili up in to 3rd.   Edwards under Haga and in to the lead.  The Kawasakis are in 5th and 6th with Corser close behind.

Haga back in to the lead, Chili looks quick and currently sits right behind Edwards.  Antonello down again.  Bayliss under Chili and up in to 3rd.  Bayliss under Edwards for 2nd.

Haga has opened up a little bit of a gap on the battle for 2nd.  Bayliss has opened up some ground over Edwards who is being hounded closely by Chili.  Borja and Slight have both got past Corser who is now relegated to 9th.

Chili past Edwards and immediately pulling a gap.  Edwards will be taken by the Kawasaki men shortly too I would think.  Bayliss closing right on Haga now and Chili is going with him.    Bayliss under Haga in turn 1 at the start of lap 5.   Slight in 8th.

Borja has split the Kawasaki men to take 6th.  The leading trio of Bayliss, Haga and Chili are running nose-to-tail.  Yanagawa is right on Edwards but seems to have picked his pace up again after he seemed to slow for a few laps.

Haga tries around the outside of Bayliss but can't quite make it stick.  Lavilla in the pits.  Borja set the fastest lap on the 6th time around the circuit.   Slight 7th, Corser 8th.

Haga through on Bayliss but the Aussie takes it right back, 10 laps to go, and again Haga in to the lead and backing it in to the corners.  Yanagawa has taken Edwards for 4th and the American is also starting to be hounded by Juan Borja.

Lap 7 - Bayliss, Haga, Chili.  Hold that, Haga back in front.  Chili is right with them but watching the frenetic action from a relatively safe bike length behind.   Borja in front of Edwards pushing the American back to 6th.  Slight looks to be catching Edwards also.

Haga has to sit up after hitting a wet patch, Chili hit the same spot and it spun him around and landed him on his bum.  Bayliss through on Haga as the Japanese rider regains his composure after his little 'moment'.  Half a lap later, Haga through on Bayliss, Bayliss back through.  Lots of smoke and an oil flag is out.

Bayliss ran very wide, Haga in to the lead.  Borja through on Yanagawa for 3rd.   Bayliss under Haga, elbow banging here, you could actually see Haga stick his elbow out to hit Bayliss but that didn't worry the Aussie who hits the front again, 5 laps to run.

Slight is right on Edwards' case now.  Bayliss runs wide, Haga back in the lead.   Haga, Bayliss, Borja, Yanagawa, Edwards, Slight.  Bussei off on to the grass and into a little lake.  Bayliss takes the lead again.  Bayliss had his foot slip off a peg in to the turn, in to the grass and in his arse,  bugger again...

Haga now has a big lead to himself.  Borja in 2nd with Yanagawa right up his tailpipe,  now Yanagawa through on Borja for 2nd.  Slight in 4th, Edwards 5th.

Slight looks to be catching Borja but he only has a couple of laps to get him and must be a good couple of seconds behind.  Gramigni 6th, Corser 7th.

Final lap - Haga has a huge lead and after that huge battle with Bayliss has had a pretty relaxed final few laps and celebrates with a great wheelie through the chicane and over the finish line.  Yanagawa 2nd, Borja 3rd, Slight 4th, Edwards 5th.
