World SuperBike - Round 7 - Misano - Race 1

Corser got a pretty bad start as the front lifted off the line and Haga led the pack through the 1st couple of corners.  But Corser worked hard to get back up to 2nd almost immediately.  A few corners later he got in front of Haga for the lead, Corser is looking good.

Corser, Haga, Borja, Fujiwara, Bayliss, Goddard, Chili.  Borja under Haga for 2nd as Edwards and Slight had a coming together and both ended up on their bums in the gravel.

Corser immediately started opening up a gap on Haga who had took Borja for 2nd.  Lap 3 and Corser has 1.1 seconds on Noriyuki who was closely followed by Borja, then Fujiwara in 4th, Bayliss, Chili, Goddard.

Corser had increased his lead to 2.6 seconds on Haga by lap 6!  The battle for 2nd was between Haga, Borja, Fujiwara, Bayliss, with Chili catching and Goddard a little further back.

Borja back past Haga for 2nd a lap later but the battle for that 2nd place had really tightened up.  I would not be surprised if Chili gets past the lot of them and up into 2nd by about lap 15.  Corser is running away in the lead, 4 seconds is the gap.

Bayliss past Fujiwara and up in to 4th, Borja is still holding his 2nd place from Haga and Chili is lining up his team-mate for that 5th place.   Bostrom 9th.  Bayliss looks as though he has the speed to take both Borja and Haga but needs some room to get through.  Yanagawa further back in 7th with Goddard right with him, Bostrom is a bit further behind them in 9th.

Bayliss in an unbelievable move took both Borja and Haga in the one passing maneuver, awesome, it looks as though he has the speed to start chasing down Corser who now has a 5.7 second lead.

I was wondering why Chili had not started passing people and I got the explanation on lap 12 when he pulled in to the pits to retire, a huge blow for the Italian who had a great chance to make up some of the points gap to Edwards.

Bostrom took Goddard for 7th and looked to maybe have the speed to also get Yanagawa within the next few laps.

Lap 13 - Corser, Bayliss (6.14s), Borja, Haga, Fujiwara, Yanagawa, Bostrom, Goddard.

Bostrom through on Yanagawa now, maybe the American has been spurred in to action after seeing what the other guys can do on those Ducatis.   Borja and Haga had closed right up on the tail of Bayliss once again, Fujiwara a further second behind them in 5th.

10 laps to go and Corser is still over 6 seconds in front with Bayliss and Borja nearly swapping paint for that 2nd position, lets hope the team-mates do not do a Castrol Honda and take each other out as Borja is really backing that Ducati into the turns.  Corser has the whole of the main straight on the 2nd place combatants.  At the end of the main straight Borja ran very wide, just managed to avoid taking Bayliss out and lost a LOT of time.

Bayliss now has a little bit of a gap on Haga who is closely followed by Fujiwara and a recovering Borja.  A further 3 seconds back is Bostrom in 6th.

8 laps to go and Fujiwara is really starting to challenge Haga for 3rd, Borja is right on their tails and back up to full speed.  Borja tried a move that put him back in front of both Fujiwara and Haga but again ran wide and got pushed back to 5th.  Fujiwara through on Haga and Borja has to work hard again to make up the ground to them, nobody could accuse the Ducati rider of not trying his hardest!

Bostrom and Yanagawa are really making some in-roads on that battle for 2nd.  Borja through on Haga for 4th.  Fujiwara has left them for dead and is now right up with Bayliss and battling for 2nd.  Bostrom and Yanagawa have definitely now joined the fray to make the fight for 4th a 4-way battle.  Those two have made up a lot of ground so there is a good chance they will get past both Haga and Borja as they still have 5 laps to go.  There it is, Yanagawa through on Haga and now right on the tail of Borja.  This battle for 4th has let Bayliss and Fujiwara clear out a little and make the battle for 2nd their own.

3 laps to go - Corser, Bayliss (9 secs), Fujiwara, Borja, Yanagawa, Haga, Bostrom, and a few seconds further back Goddard in 8th.

Bostrom through on Haga for 6th with 2 laps to go.   Final lap and Corser is 10 seconds in front, Bayliss is trying to hold out Fujiwara in order to keep his 2nd place.  Corser crosses the line on the back wheel, Bayliss 2nd, Fujiwara, Borja, Yanagawa, Bostrom, Haga, Goddard.

The two Troys make it an Aussie 1-2.

With Chili and Edwards both not taking any points from this race the championship has closed right up.
