World SuperBike 2000 - Round 9 - Laguna Seca - Race 1

Colin Edwards got the jump, followed by Haga, Bayliss, Chili, Yanagawa, Corser.  Haga through on Edwards in an unreal move, Edwards back through on the main straight, Corser through on Yanagawa for 5th.  Haga back to the front on the next lap and Corser now right with Chili and fighting for that 4th place.

Corser through on Chili - Haga, Edwards, Bayliss, Corser 4th.  Haga starting to make some ground on Edwards, Corser under Bayliss, but Bayliss does it right back to him on the way in to main straight to start lap 6.  Bostrom past Chili to take 5th and starting to definitely close on the leaders.  Lap 7 now and Bostrom will be with them within the next couple of laps, Bayliss down and Corser backs off to miss him which lets Bostrom up in to 3rd.  So Bayliss now out and the race order on lap 9 - Haga, Edwards, Bostrom, Corser, Chili, Yanagawa, Slight, Fujiwara, Goddard.

2 seconds is now the gap between Edwards in 2nd and Bostrom in 3rd.  Bostrom is still in front of Corser who closes right up in the corners only to be blown away by the Ducati as soon as it comes to a bit of straight track.

As they commence lap 16 Haga has stretched his lead out to 2.5 seconds over Edwards, who is being caught by Bostrom & Corser.

8 laps to run and the race order remains the same and Haga has an even bigger lead.  Goddard had destroyed his rear tyre and started to be lapped with 5 laps to go.  Well this has to be the most boring World SuperBike race of the year thus far.

Corser is starting to really attack Bostrom with 3 laps to go.  Haga has a clear 3.5 second lead.  Final lap, Corser under Bostrom in a great move with 1 corner to run, Bostrom back underneath but Corser gets the better run off the turn and takes 3rd.
