Dec
18 - News - Rumours have been flying thick and fast recently about
what Honda is going to do in regards to Australian road racing in
2002. Honda had stated that they would mount an all out attack
in 2002 but it looks as though those ideas have been scaled back
somewhat since then. The official response from Honda at the
moment though is, 'No Comment'

16 - News - Last weekend young Australian SuperSport racer Clint Farr
tragically lost his life as a result of a racing incident. We
have not said anything about these unfortunate events on here up until
now as it is not the type of thing we like to report. After
discussions and requests from families of many other Australian racers
we have decided to set up an email address for people to send their
condolences to the Farr family. We will also publish batches of
these up here for all to read before later forwarding them to Clint's
family. This is a terrible reminder of the dangers that all
motorcycle racers face when competing, let's show his family just how
many of us are thinking of them at this point in time.

25 - News - MA just announced that the 2002 Australian SuperBike
calendar will run from March to November and be a minimum of 5 rounds.
Detailed calendar expected in a fortnight. MA also said that
they have decided to commit funding to ensure TV coverage but no
details have been put in place as yet. The classes will be
SuperBike, SuperSport, 250 Production, 125 GP and 250 GP with sidecars
also running at 3 of the rounds. Each round will also have a
support race of some format yet to be decided and largely dependant on
what is popular in that particular state etc. All classes will
now have 3 races with every class having a race on the Saturday
afternoon followed by 3 races for each class on the Sunday.

27 - News - Motorcycling Australia has come back to us in regards to
our 'best guess' scenario for the 2002 Shell Advance Australian Road
Racing Championship, quashing some of the rumours and seeking to
clarify the situation somewhat. MA had this to say, "Any talk that
some of the 2002 ARRC rounds are being run with the V8 Supercars is
unfounded. The proposal for a summer series has been dropped and the
dates, venues and format for the 2002 ARRC is still under
consideration at this stage but the calendar will be along the lines
of the traditional March through October season. MA is delighted to
announce that Shell will continue its sponsorship of the SAASC in
2002."

27 - News - The proposal to move the ARRC to a summer series has
officially been dropped. Motorcycling Australia and Shell have made a
joint statement indicating that Shell will remain as the official
sponsor of the Australian Road Racing Championships. Current best
guess scenario will see that we kick off the 2002 ARRC at the Phillip
Island round of the World SuperBike Championship on March 24. The
championship will maybe then run at some V8 Supercar events (as per
old 2+4 format) along the East Coast and at the Northern Territory's
Hidden Valley circuit, culminating with the season finale to be staged
with the 2002 Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island on the 20th of
October. At this stage though, that is the best 'guess' scenario
and far from concrete

- May 6 - Round 1 - Race
1, Coxhell took the jump off the line but Giles made it to the front in quick fashion before being caught by Tony Rees.
Local rider Stuart Adams (R1) challenged Giles during the middle of the race before gaining the upper hand and leaving the GSX-R 1000 behind. Rees took an easy win by a number of seconds. Coxhell
is changing to a lighter rear shock for the second race as he thinks that was the
cause of his problems during race 1. The race was held on a
damp track.
