Hislop out for rest of season
|
Following on from his high speed crash at Rockingham Motor Speedway
yesterday, MonsterMob Ducati rider Steve Hislop has reluctantly had to
concede the British Superbike Championship due to the injuries sustained
when he went down after clipping the rear of John Reynolds machine in the
opening race. The 38 year old Scotsman who now resides at Onchan in the Isle of Man was knocked out in the accident and taken to hospital whereby he underwent surgery on Sunday evening to repair the damage to his right ankle and is expected to remain there for a few days. The impact with the concrete wall, caused when Hislop slid under the protective barrier, saw him sustain a break to the right tibia, which compressed the ankle joint causing a compound fracture also. Hislop broke his right collarbone in the smash also and lost a lot of skin after being trapped under the sliding bike. As a result, Hislop's injuries are sufficiently serious to rule him out of the final and deciding round of the championship at Donington Park on October 14th and in doing so, has conceded victory to main rival Reynolds who trailed Hislop by 25 points going into the penultimate round at Rockingham. |
