Canadian SuperBike 2001 - Round 4 - Quebec

Veteran Superbike Champion Steve Crevier passed the Suzuki of Francis Martin on lap 9 of the 22 lap race. Crevier, on the Honda RC51, put forth a near flawless run to the flag while local favourite and last years winner Francis Martin, had to settle for second place nearly 2 seconds adrift. Doubling up the Honda Canada effort on the podium was Mike Taylor on an RC51.

Crevier's victory puts the 5 time Canadian Superbike Champion with a commanding lead in the series points standings over Kawasaki rival Owen Weichel. Weichel had failed to qualify on the front row, and finished the race in 6th place after being tagged by Jeff Williams open class spec, Honda CBR929, on the final lap.

Yamaha failed to make the podium with either main SuperBike riders. Frank Trombino and his YZF1000R1 finished fourth behind a resurgent Mike Taylor, swapping their earlier qualifying positions. And Local Veteran Yamaha rider, Ben Pilon, finished behind Owen Weichel in 7th place.

Behind the Superbike factory contenders where a motley crew of 600s taking advantage of the tight technical and bumpy nature of the Quebec track, while humbling some of the larger displacement bikes. Jean Francois Cyr, always strong at his home track, finished in 8th on his Yamaha R6, and behind him, a solid effort was put forth by the smooth riding Mike Leon on his Honda CBR600F4i. Young Gun Andrew Nelson, now on Kawasaki equipment, also got his 600 into the top 10.
