Honda joins Formula Xtreme action

Honda MPE Australia are now officially involved with the '2001 Yamaha Xtreme Tri-State Series' and have become the naming rights sponsor of the 'FX Pro-Twins' class, to be now known as the 'HONDA FX Pro-Twins'.

The FX Pro-Twins class, which as the name suggest, caters for large capacity twin cylinder sports motorcycles. A class in which Honda can compete very competitively with their VTR-SP.

"We've seen the success of Formula Xtreme grow over recent years to a point where we feel that it is the premier road racing category in Australia at present and we want to be part of it," said Mr Ian Juster, National Manager for Honda MPE. "The FX Pro-Twins class allows owners of models such as the VTR-SP to race in what is a very popular and well organised event."

Honda joins a strong list of motorcycle industry sponsor who have become involved with Formula Xtreme including - Yamaha, Aprilia, Buell and tyre manufacturers Michelin.

"Perhaps Motorcycling Australia (the sports governing body) should take note of the growth and professionalism of Formula Xtreme as they are providing both the distributors and riders with the perfect platform to show case their products and skills," added Juster. "I congratulate Terry (O'Neill) on how well he has put his FX package together."

Competitors in the category will have the chance to win a specially prepared up-spec Honda VTR-SP which will be presented to the leading privateer (B,C or D grader) at the conclusion of the 2001 HONDA FX Pro-Twins series. This becomes the single richest prize ever offered at Formula Xtreme. The total `bike' prize pool is over $110,000 with a total of seven motorcycles being offered to various category winners.

"Formula Xtreme has become the richest 5-event road racing series in Australia and with the added exposure via the television packages secured through FOX Sports and SBS (Speedweek) it provides all involved to benefit from the best exposure available in this country at present," commented series organiser, Terry O'Neill.

Sydney's Oran Park Raceway will host the second event of the 2001 Yamaha Xtreme Tri-State on the weekend of April 28-29.
