A hot lap of Oschersleben with Karl Muggeridge
|
As I flip right I knocked it down a cog to second gear and hold a tight line around the entire corner before accelerating as hard as possible down the short straight towards Hasseroeder but there is only room for one up change. Hasseroeder is a tight left hand hairpin and my favourite place to pass. Braking as deep as possible, back one gear while trying not to leave the door open, then accelerating hard up two gears but this time keeping to the right hand sight along another short straight towards The Triple. The Triple is a series of three fast lefts. The initial turn is the quickest at around 180kph before it tightens further for the second where you push the front really deep as you enter and try to wash off as much speed as possible. Then gently on with the brakes and knock the GSX-R down two gears in preparation for the flip right into turn four which is another really long right hander. Then we accelerate up a really short straight while keeping to the left of the track. You crest the rise ready to fire the bike through Bilstein chicane, running over both ripples. Right, left then immediately into turn six which is a 90' right. Trying to keep as much speed as possible through that turn six to shoot you along the slightly up hill Stadium Straight. If you get turn 6 right it's possible to pass into the Shell Esses at the end of the straight. Knock the bike down three gears while braking very hard and concentrating hard to get the entry correct as it is slightly downhill and if you miss the apex it can ruin your chances of a good lap time. Hold the bike on a tight line, keeping on the right side of the track to give you a good run out and up the rise towards turn 8 and going up one gear in the process. Moving left as you crest the hill braking and back down one gear setting yourself up for turn 8 which is a fast right that shoots you down to the final turn, "Die Spielmacher", which means The Playmaker. Your last real chance to take someone. Braking really hard and deep into the Die Spielmacher down one gear before apexing late in order to get a good run onto the start finish straight. Pulling hard down past the Pit Lane on your left again after around one minute and 31 seconds. |
