2001 Endurance Championship - Rule changes

The FIM has announced the new structure of the Endurance races for the 2001 season.

The three following classes will be admitted at each event :

- SUPERBIKE class counting towards the World Championship ;
- SUPERPRODUCTION class counting towards the World Cup ;
- STOCKSPORT class counting towards the FIM Cup.

The Technical Rules for the Superbike and Stocksport classes are the ones of the 2000 season amended at the Congress for the 2001 season. 

The Technical Rules for the new Superproduction class is based on parts of both above-mentioned rules, as follows:

The motorcycles shall be production machines which must be homologated by the FIM.

The Stocksport Rules will apply for the following parts:
Cubic capacity, carburation instruments, fuel, air box, caburettors, fuel injection system, fuel supply, engine, cylinder head, camshaft, cam sprockets, crankshaft, oil pumps and oil lines, connecting rods, pistons, piston rings, piston pins and clips, cylinders, crankcase, gearbox case, transmission and gearbox, clutch, ignition and engine control system (CDI), exhaust system and minimum weights.

The Rules of the Superbike class will apply for all the other parts of the motorcycle.

If necessary, an air intake restriction system may be imposed during the season in order to rectify possible performance discrepancies.
