Crockard signs with KTM

Gordon Crockard, 23-year old Irishman, currently 2nd in the 250cc World MX Championship, has signed to race the all new factory KTM SX 250 in the 2002 250cc World MX Championship!

Gordon has already won 2 MX - GPs during 2001 and might finish the season as vice world champion. Then he will meet a new challenge, to achieve his goal of becoming World Champion in 2002!
Gordon will be the new team mate of current World 125cc MX Champion, Jamie Dobb, who moves up to the 250cc class.

The contract period is for one season although both KTM Sport motorcycle AG and Gordon are hoping to extend the agreement in early 2002.

Gordon Crockard is exited at the prospect of racing for KTM: "I visited the KTM factory last week and could not believe the huge resources they have to make the best motorcycles. I know from the results of the team that they are dedicated to winning and we have the same goal - the 250cc World Motocross Champion Title 2002!"

2002 will be KTM's first official move into the 250cc class after several years.
KTM will take part with an official 2 man factory team (Dobb & Crockard) in the 2002 250cc World MX and has developed a brand new 250 SX.

KTMīs MX Racing Team manager Kurt Nicoll now has his sights firmly set on the 250cc title: "We now have both the riders that I wanted for 2002, it is really a dream team for me! We have a new 250cc bike which is performing with incredible results in testing and with Jamie Dobb and Gordon Crockard as the riders, everything is set to push for the 2002 title!"

Following the titles achieved in 500cc and 125cc in the past 2 years Kurt Nicoll might secretly be dreaming of the triple crown in 2002 ....
