Corser's Phillip Island test wraps up

After the scorchingly hot conditions during the earlier part of the test, it was no surprise to the locals when the heavens opened last night and Phillip Island was engulfed by rain.

By this morning, the rain had cleared so Troy and the Aprilia team made their way to the track for the final day of the tests. Troy had been looking forward to carrying on with yesterday's good work, but one look at the state of the track was enough to delay proceedings.

A lot of work is being done to the gravel-traps and run-off areas at Phillip Island, and that together last night's rain meant the track was dirty and slippery. An attempt was made to clean it up, but after the team went round to have a look, it was obvious that the condition was not that good. As the track was still damp and greasy, the team decided that no further progress could be made and so called it a day. While the team were disappointed not to have had time to prove yesterday's advance, they were very happy with the breakthroughs they had achieved during these tests.

Troy -  "Yesterday we felt as if it was going to rain, and boy did it chuck it down!

"When we got to the track, it was dirty and although they tried cleaning it, it was still damp and not very good. We wouldn't have been able to get anything good done, so we had a meeting and decided to call it a day. I'm sure the boys were a bit disappointed because really I've only done one full day. But, on the other hand, that day was so productive that it made up for me not being able to ride the first two days. What we found yesterday was a really positive step forward. That was using the older engine, so now when we go to Valencia we'll put in the new engine. The new engine is just stronger, so I expect we'll continue moving in the right direction. Despite my relatively short track time here, I feel we made a significant step forward and I'm really happy with how things worked out.
I 'm off to Aprilia now, for the official race team presentation on Tuesday. After that I'll be back in Monaco for a short break before the Valencia tests on February 18th and 19th. I'll catch up with you again then. See ya
