World SuperBike 2001 - Round 11 - Oschersleben - Race 2

Go back and read about race 1...

Will Edwards do the double?

Colin Edwards got the best run off the line from Laconi and Xaus.  At the end of lap 1 Edwards had 1.3 seconds over his pursuers and looks set to run away with it once again.  Xaus up into 2nd.

Bayliss working his way up through the field and in 4th by lap 3 after a shocking start.

Xaus worked his way on the back of Edwards and took him for the lead.  Bayliss through on Laconi for 3rd but has a fair amount of ground to make up if he is to challenge him.

18 laps to run and Xaus remains in the lead from Edwards with Bayliss still trying to make up ground but some 6 seconds behind the leading duo.  Bostrom further behind in 4th.

Xaus pulling away from Edwards now and has more than 2 seconds over the American and over 10 seconds on Bayliss who looks to have no hope of chasing them down.  Corser languishing in 12th, Martin 14th, Goddard 16th, Parkes 19th.

Bostrom is closing down Bayliss for 3rd, taking a few tenths per lap until a few laps later he was right on the back of the Australian.

Xaus has run away out in front and now has over 6 seconds on Edwards with 6 laps remaining while Bayliss is still being hounded by Bostrom but they are a further 8 seconds behind.

3 laps remaining now and Edwards some 8 seconds behind race leader Xaus while Bayliss is still managing to hold of Bostrom but they are 6 seconds adrift of the 2nd placed Edwards.  And that is how they cross the line.
