Edwards sizes up the Donington opposition

World Superbike champion Colin Edwards believes the British round at Donington Park next week could provide two of the most closely-fought races of the season.

"There are so many riders who could win at Donington Park," predicts Edwards. "And so many who have to win, for a variety of reasons." With everything to race for in the championship chase, Edwards previews some of the key opposition for the Donington Park sixth round.

Troy Corser - "Troy's always been good at Donington Park. It is a real riders' track and you can get dialled in and put the fast laps together. After his disappointment at Monza Troy will want to bounce back and I expect him to be pretty focused by the time we get there next week."

Troy Bayliss - "He's improved a lot this year and I think he's still improving. He's won British Superbike rounds at Donington Park so he knows the place well enough. We're on the same Michelin tyres so I expect it to be close between Troy and me throughout the Donington weekend."

Neil Hodgson - "Neil's arriving at Donington with a point to prove. For whatever reason things haven't gone his way as much as he would have wanted but I'm sure he'll be set on trying to win his home races. He'll probably have a bit more pressure to deal with, I know that used to get to Carl Fogarty at the Donington round so Neil will have to handle that now."

Tady Okada - "We've always known that the ability and experience is there with Tady, it's just been a case of discovering how much he wants to win. I think he's proven that now. He showed at Monza and this week in the Misano test that he's not here to make up the numbers. He's held the 500cc grand prix lap record at Donington too so he's definitely one of those who could challenge for wins there."

John Reynolds - "I expect him to be in amongst it. It's the usual situation for a wild card rider, he can risk everything on the day and try and get a result while some of us are trying to put a season together and win a championship. After winning at the last round last year at Brands Hatch I'm sure John will be pretty confident for next week."

The Donington action gets underway next Friday, May 25th.
