World SuperBike 2001 - Round 7 - Lausitzring - Race 2

Go back and read about race 1...

After an Aussie 1-2-3 in SuperSport can the boys in SuperBike do the same.  It was raining heavily in some parts of the SuperSport race but the rain had eased now for race 2 in the SuperBike.  The track is still very wet but the rain is not falling now.  A definite lottery as far as tyre choices go.

Hodgson gets the jump from Bayliss and Corser 3rd.  Bayliss under Hodgson for the lead as they start lap 2.  Parkes 7th, Martin 9th, Edwards 12th.

Parkes now up to 4th, Edwards 11th, Martin 12th.  A lap later and Parkes is looking down at his bike, yep mechanical problems, a disaster for the youngest man in World Supers after running 4th and looking very strong.

Bayliss still out in front but Hodgson continues to hang on to his coat-tails.  Martin 11th, Craggill 16th.

Edwards right with Corser now and looking for a way through and the Texan is the fastest man on the track at this stage.  Bayliss, Hodgson, Edwards, Corser is the race order now after the American gained the upper hand over the Aprilia rider.  But Edwards is over 20 seconds behind Hodgson so he has his work cut out in order to make up the gap with 13 laps to go.

Xaus through on Corser for 4th.  Bayliss about to lap Bostrom, there it goes, Bostrom is a lap down now.

Bayliss still out in front but Hodgson is only a just over a second behind the Australian and still in with a chance.

Craggill in the dirt with only 6 laps remaining so loses a points finish.
