Troy Corser testing in Kyalami - Tuesday
| Despite putting in only fourteen laps on his first day of testing at the official SBK tests at Kyalami, Troy still managed to set the fifth quickest time of the day. Troy only took part in only the morning session, before a combination of jet-lag and dizziness halted the rest of today's practice. Troy got down to good lap times as soon as he rolled out onto the track and was soon in the sub 1:44's. A sub 1:43 would have been a near certainty until Troy started feeling a little dizzy and decided it would be better to stop for the day. In the end, Troy's time of 1:43.952 was only seven tenths of a second outside the lap record. Troy - "I had a good night's sleep and felt pretty good when I arrived at the track this morning. I just jumped on the bike and started going round and it wasn't long before the lap times began coming down. Considering I haven't been on the bike for some time, I reckon we did well to get on the pace so soon. I thought that we would be chasing Colin's tail before the end of the day, but we never got that far. After a while I began to feel a bit strange and also a little dizzy, so I thought it'd be better to pull in and stop. We're here for three day, so I don't think we'll lose out really. After all we were on the pace almost from the off, so I'm sure that there's more to come - and soon." Troy - 14 laps, best lap 1:43.952 Combined test times after Monday and Tuesday: 1 Colin Edwards, USA (Castrol Honda) 1m 42.391s, 2 Neil Hodgson, GB (Ducati) 1m 42.610s, 3 Tady Okada, Japan (Castrol Honda) 1m 43.244s, 4 Pier-Francesco Chili, Italy (Suzuki) 1m 43.383s, 5 Gregorio Lavilla, Spain (Kawasaki) 1m 43.932s, 6 Troy Corser, Australia (Aprilia) 1m 43.952s, 7 Troy Bayliss, Australia (Ducati) 1m 43.976s, 8 Ben Bostrom, USA (Ducati) 1m 44.079s, 9 Ruben Xaus, Spain (Ducati) 1m 44.307s, 10 Akira Yanagawa, Japan (Kawasaki) 1m 44.343s. |
