| The final day of official SBK Winter Tests saw the riders aim to lower the track record and Troy Bayliss was immediately one of the protagonists.
On the penultimate lap of a 25-lap morning race simulation, the Australian set a time of 1m43.027s, an excellent result for all the work done by Ducati Corse over the past few days. The time was around three-tenths of a second quicker than the best laps set in both races last year. Shortly afterwards Bayliss bolted on a set of qualifying tyres and dipped under the 1m42s mark with a time of 1m41.904s, another record after the one he set yesterday. Later in the afternoon Hodgson (GSE Ducati) then brought the Kyalami lap record down even further and his 1m41.477s remains the time to beat in view of the race here in April.
Ben Bostrom was also on excellent form at Kyalami and improved his personal best with fourth quickest time overall today. Fellow Ducati rider Ruben Xaus had to interrupt his practice session half-way through the morning because the Spanish rider was still feeling the effects of his crash here a few days ago and preferred not to take any further risks.

"I'm really pleased with the race simulation we did today which confirmed the excellent quality of the material we
tested", said Troy Bayliss. "I felt really good on the bike and kept up a high pace with times that were lower than the record laps in last year's race. These results demonstrate that everyone has worked really well here this week. Michelin gave us some excellent tyres, both for the race and for qualifying, and this was demonstrated by the time I set
today".
"I'm pleased with the work done setting the bike up and we will sort the final details out in qualifying for the race in April. We're not far off from getting the bike
perfect", said Ben Bostrom. "We did some good tyre testing and Dunlop brought me some excellent rubber. I had no problems on the straight today. When you overshoot, you have to go into the run-off area and lay the bike down in the gravel because the barrier is pretty close. I can't wait to get back here for the race and put to good use all the data we acquired during these
tests".
