GSE testing in Kyalami - Day 1

GSE Racing’s Neil Hodgson and James Toseland successfully completed day one of a four-day test at Kyalami circuit, South Africa, on their factory 996 Ducatis today. Hodgson’s best lap time was 1:43.6, was only 1.2 secs off last year’s Superpole time, set by Troy Corser. New recruit to GSE Racing, Toseland secured a time of 1:44.3, during his first outing on a Superbike at the venue of the second round of the series on April 1.

“The GSE Ducati felt brilliant today,” said current British Superbike Champion, Neil Hodgson, who completed 63 laps at today’s test session. “At this high altitude the Superbikes don’t appear to have maximum power and I wasn’t able to lift the front wheel of my bike on the exit of corners. This made it much easier to ride and helped the power delivery. I’m also pleased for James, who put in an exceptionally competitive time in only his second outing on the GSE Racing Ducati.”

GSE Racing’s Team Manager Colin Wright was also impressed with the results from the first day of testing: “It’s early days. I’m happy with today’s performance, however it’s the first of a four-day test and we intend to have our best machine set-up on Thursday. After all, this is a test, not a race.  Tomorrow we will be focusing on different suspension set-ups with a combination of alternative Dunlop tyres.”
