Castrol Honda testing in Kyalami - Day 2
| Castrol Honda's World Superbike champion Colin Edwards was in record-breaking form as he set the fastest time on the second day of the official pre-season test session at Kyalami, South Africa on Tuesday. Edwards concluded his own test at lunchtime on Tuesday but not before lapping the 2.64-mile circuit 0.9s inside the lap record and scooping the fastest recorded Superbike lap, at 1m 42.391s. Edwards said: "After six days here I'm happy to be able to do that. It's been hard work in the heat and at this altitude but we've had a worthwhile six days. "Michelin have been great. They brought a lot of new, development tyres and we've got through some good race and Superpole tyres. We've also found a few positive changes to the machine which are, hopefully, going to help us this season." Edwards completed a total of 359 laps of the Johannesburg track during his six days. Second fastest after two days of the official Superbike winter test is British Ducati rider Neil Hodgson who recorded a second day time of 1m42.610s. Castrol Honda's Tady Okada did not test after feeling ill on Tuesday morning but remains third quickest after two days. Okada, like team-mate Edwards has now completed his Kyalami test and has now traveled home. Suzuki's Pier-Francesco Chili is fourth quickest after two days with Kawasaki's Gregorio Lavilla improving to take fifth place.
