Bancell led the field in to turn 1 from Scott Charlton, Jamie Stauffer and
Shannon Johnson. Scott Charlton hit the lead on the run to Honda
Corner and Shannon Johnson moved up to 2nd under brakes. Charlton
and Johnson immediately pulled ground on Bancell out of Honda and streaked
away out of Siberia. Johnson grabbed the lead and led them around to
commence lap 2, Charlton right behind then half a second to Bancell and
Stauffer. Jamie Stauffer then moved up to 3rd and started chasing the tail of Charlton as Johnson started building a small lead out in front. Stauffer and Charlton crossed the line side-by-side to start lap 4 while Johnson had escaped to the tune of 1.6 seconds. Shannon Johnson continued to build his lead and was the only man to dip in to the 1m38s bracket during the race as he stretched his gap over the Charlton-Stauffer battle for third out to 3 seconds by lap 5. Jamie Stauffer then came in to contact with Scott Charlton on the run to the main straight and slid out of contention. The Newcastle rider appeared to be unhurt. Shannon was then left to a lonely lead for the remaining few laps, as was Charlton's 2nd place a lonely affair, some 7 seconds down on Johnson by lap 7. Cameron Donald was a further 7 seconds behind in third place with Bancell a further 2 seconds down. Brent George came from behind to get the better of Bancell for 4th place.
