Shawn Giles got a good run off the line from pole with Josh Brookes and the Stauffer brothers.  Brookes really pressuring Giles from the off but the reigning champion holds him off.  The first lap from a standing start was a 1m28.6 from Giles, incredible.  Jay Taylor lost his mudguard on the main straight but continued on with no visible effects.

Shawn Giles went down at Strathfield Hairpin (click here for the image sequence) but remounted to return to the pits.  Alistair Maxwell went down at the same corner a second later.  Josh Brookes inherited the lead but Daniel Stauffer got him for the lead in an awesome braking move in to turn 1 as they started lap 3.  Dan Stauffer dot down to a 1m24.4 on lap 3.

Dan outbraked himself in to the turn before Falken Straight on lap 4 which allowed Josh Brookes to take the lead back.  Jamie Stauffer is also in the mid 1m24s in third, this is where it is at just like the SuperSports, a leading trio clearly a cut above the rest of the field.  Robert Bugden in 4th.

Jamie Stauffer did an unbelievable move in to the lead at the end of the Dunlop Straight and backed it under Josh Brookes, there was no way he looked to have been able to get away with that but he pulled it off, awesome.  Josh Brookes got shifted back to 3rd on lap 7 as the two Stauffer brothers fought at it up front.

Stephen Tozer had worked his way up to 4th, some 11 seconds down on the leading trio.  Robert Bugden 5th, Jay Taylor 6th, Jay Normoyle 7th, Steven Cutting 8th, Nick Henderson 9th and Chris Ognenis rounding out the top ten.

Daniel outbraked his brother in to turn 1 to start lap 10, no brotherly love being shown here around Winton today.  A good crowd and great weather is being treated to some great motorcycle racing.  The Stauffer brothers have the battle for the lead themselves now as they have dropped Josh Brookes off a little, the Honda pilot 2 seconds down on the Stauffers.

On lap 12 Daniel Stauffer's Yamaha started to die and slowed to a crawl.  Dropping him out of the running completely.  This of course moved Josh Brookes up to 3rd and left Jamie Stauffer with the win unless something untowards happens as Josh Brookes now some 4 seconds behind him in 2nd.

Jamie Stauffer takes the  win but it is his brother Daniel Stauffer who takes the new production superbike lap record (1m24.462) before his unfortunate demise due to mechanical problems.
