Brendan Clarke led the field through the first turns on lap 1 from Glenn Allerton and Jordan Coote.  Brent George was running well before running off the circuit but he managed to remain upright.

Clarke had pulled 8-tenths over Allerton by the time they started lap 2.  That gap grew to 1.9 seconds by the start of lap 3, but Coote had moved past Allerton in to 2nd place.  Caleb Stalder then started to challenge Allerton for 3rd.

Stalder took third from Allerton on lap 5, Allerton then also started to come under attack from Quinn and Anthony.  Chris Quinn was about to put a move on Allerton for 4th but had a huge slide coming on to the main straight which put paid to that.

Clarke continued to lap a full second quicker than the rest of the field and eventually took the win by 10.5 seconds over Jordan Coote.  Clarke recorded fairly consistent 1m41.7 laps of Eastern Creek during the race.  This compares to the 1m41.3 lap record set by Aaron Gobert in 2000, the year the middle of the Gobert boys won the Australian 250 Production Championship.

Caleb Stalder missed out on getting 2nd place from Coote by the slimmest of margins.  Allerton held on for 4th, Anthony 5th, Quinn 6th.

Jordan Coote's 2nd place was enough to clinch him the 2002 Australian 250 Production Championship.
