With only a handful of entries received, the Winton 6 Hour Motorcycle Enduro, which was scheduled to run on November 23rd and 24th, has been cancelled.

At the close of entries, Winton Motor Raceway management said that because of the lack of interest in the event, they were left with no option but to announce its premature demise.

Winton’s Chief Executive Officer, Mick Ronke, said that the circuit was most disappointed in the lack of support shown toward the Enduro.

“The pre-race support for the Enduro was positive earlier on this year, but we were disappointed that as entries for the event opened, Motorcycling Australia decided to release details of a championship status endurance race at Phillip Island, to be held just a few months later,” he said.

“This has had a significant effect on the demise of the Winton Enduro.”

“In recent times we have had repeated requests from both motorcycle industry and competitors to stage an endurance event such as this.”

“We have tried for two years to make the event happen, but after receiving little or no support from the
motorcycle fraternity, we are now abandoning our efforts to conduct the event,” Mr Ronke continued.

“The motorcycle racing fraternity are always crying out for people to help them develop their scene, but when someone tries, they do very little to support any new initiatives.”

With the cancellation of the motorcycle event, Winton will now conduct two Private Practice days on November 23rd and 24th.

“We are not in the business of cancelling race meetings, but with the dates now available, we would like to invite all interested persons to come and utilise the track’s facilities,” Mr Ronke concluded.
