The schedule for the IRTA
2002 pre-season tests has finally been confirmed, so that teams who plan
to participate in the FIM World Championship (MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc) can
now work around the dates and locations to get everything into place for
the competition, which begins in Suzuka (Japan) on April 7. The IRTA 2002 Test calendar is the following: February 14-15 - Jerez, 125cc February 15-16-17 - Valencia, MotoGP & 250cc February 18-19 - Valencia, 125cc February 20-21 - Estoril, MotoGP & 250cc March 11-12 - Catalunya, MotoGP March 30-31 - Suzuka, MotoGP The traditional stop at Jerez is not being made by MotoGP and 250cc teams purely for circumstantial reasons, owing to the improvements being made to the Andalusian circuit for the Gran Premio Marlboro de Espaņa, which takes place from May 3-5, and which means as a result that the debut for new teams and bikes will not happen in its usual surroundings. Instead on this occasion, the world's focus will be on Valencia, where the new MotoGP machines will be measured up against each other for the first time. |
