Steve Fisher got the best jump off the line once again but Mick Thomas took the lead in turn 1, Trinder also went through at the next corner. Mick Matheson had a big crash but got up and walked, well limped, away. As they commenced lap 2 it was Trinder in the lead and starting to build a gap over the second placed Mick Thomas. But Mick Thomas went down hard early on lap 2, David Butler also went down in the carnage as did Benn Archibald. The lap 2 crashes maybe caused by dropped liquid from Mick Matheson's lap 1 high side. All riders receiving various injuries, some a little more serious than others, but nothing life threatening. At the re-start Fisher got off the line well again and led through turn 1 from Trinder but it did not take long for Trinder to gain the upper hand and start to build a lead once again. Matthew Waldron and Graeme Wilshaw started to pressure Steven Fisher for 2nd, but the Ballina rider responded and pulled a gap on the them to cement his 2nd spot. Graeme Wilshaw then got past Matthew Waldron for 3rd and set out after Fisher once again. He got close but couldn't quite manage it. Trinder took the win, Fisher 2nd, Waldron 3rd.
