| The
winner of the Supersports support category races at the Australian
Motorcycle Grand Prix will be awarded the Clint Farr Memorial Trophy.
Clint Farr, of Upper
Beaconsfield, Victoria, was the respected and popular Supersports rider
who tragically died after an accident during a race at last year's Grand
Prix at Phillip Island.
The Acting Chief
Executive of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Mr Steven Wright, said
the trophy would be "a fitting tribute to Clint Farr's memory".
"We have worked with
Clint's family to establish a lasting reminder of his contribution to
Supersports racing," Mr Wright said.
Three eight-lap
Supersports races will be held at the Grand Prix - two on the afternoon of
Friday, October 18, and another on the afternoon of Saturday, October 19.
Mr Wright said the
Clint Farr Memorial Trophy would be presented on the Grand Prix's main
day, Sunday, October 20, to the category's overall winner from the three
races.
"We are sure the
trophy will be cherished by all Supersports riders competing at the Grand
Prix," Mr Wright said.
Clint Farr's parents,
Ian and Jill, said: "The Farr family are very honoured and proud to think
that the Grand Prix have taken time to honour Clint in this way. He lived
and breathed his motorcycling."
