The second round of the fiercely contested Maxxis European Supermotard Championship takes place this coming weekend; 1st and 2nd June at “DE Peel Circuit” near Venray in The Netherlands. Venray is in the Limburg province and is situated 165 Km from Amsterdam.

This is the second year that the “ De Peel “ Circuit has hosted a round of the Maxxis European Supermotard Championship. The unusual venue, which is very popular with spectators, combines a karting and INDY Car circuits with a motocross track and the off-road sections feature two huge sandy jumps. Just like last year’s successful event, the weekend has a full supporting programme, including a round of the Dutch Supermotard Championship and a round of the International Quad Challenge.

Saturday’s timetable includes free practice at 13.00 and 15.00, followed by qualifying at 17.00. On Sunday, warm up is at 10.00, timed practice at 11.30 and Polini Superpole at 11.50. The two races start at 14.00 and 16.30.

Thierry Van Den Bosch (KTM) is out for vengeance at Venray after mechanical failure robbed him of a double victory in Fougéres (F) and allowed fellow Frenchman Boris Chambon (HVA) to steal a march in the title chase. Amongst accidents and mechanical mayhem, “Steady Eddy” Seel (HVA) kept his cool and was a double winner in 2001. He has vowed to repeat the performance and shrug off the below par start to his title defence at Fougéres.

Current Standings:

  1. B.CHAMBON 45
  2. KINIGADNER 36
  3. DELANNOY 27
  4. VAN DEN BOSCH 25
  5. SEEL 23
