Katsuaki Fujiwara starts from pole position in
Sunday's 10th round of the World Supersport championship at
Oschersleben, Germany after winning a battle with Honda's Fabien Foret
to head the grid for the 28-lap race. Fujiwara moved ahead of Foret, to the top of the leader board, with 10 minutes to go in the 45-minute session on Saturday afternoon. Foret hit back and narrowly missed out on his sixth pole position of the year as less than one second covered the first 16 riders. The pair are also arch-rivals in the fight for the 2002 title with three races remaining in the 12-round championship. Fujiwara's team-mate and former champion Stephane Chambon starts from third place with German Yamaha rider Christian Kellner in fourth, completing the front row of the grid. Young Australian Chris Vermeulen leads the second row after he recorded the fifth fastest time on his Van Zon Honda. Scotsman Iain MacPherson moved into sixth place with his best lap - on his last lap - aboard his Ten Kate CBR600 Honda. BKM Honda's Christophe Cogan starts from seventh while Honda UK team rider Karl Muggeridge improved by half a second on his Friday time to finish eighth fastest. Defending champion Andrew Pitt failed to improve on his best lap from Friday's action and starts from ninth with Austrian Yamaha rider Robert Ulm completing the top 10.
