Vermeulen did not make the best of his start while the two Suzuki's sprinted through turn 1, while Kevin Curtain also got a cracker of a start to move straight up to 3rd. Vermeulen was forced to retire nearly immediately as his machine failed, a terrible blow for the 20 year old after working so hard to secure that pole position. Paolo Casoli moved through on Curtain for 3rd late in lap 1 before also going through on both Suzuki men to lead the race as they started lap 2. Curtain did not hold back and got through on Fujiwara for 3rd. Fabien Foret and Iain MacPherson were starting to challenge Fujiwara for 4th. Kevin Curtain then moved up in to 2nd position and actually built a small gap over the 3rd placed Chambon who was trying to fight off his team-mate Fujiwara while Foret, MacPherson and Pitt were also pushing the Suzuki riders hard. Andrew Pitt picked up the pace to move past MacPherson and Foret to take 5th position on lap 3. Kevin Curtain lost a couple of positions on the next lap, Fujiwara and Foret went through on Curtain but he came right back at Foret to work his way straight back up to 3rd. Muggeridge also started to pick up the pace and was closing on the back of Pitt and MacPherson. Foret got Curtain back for 3rd on lap 4 and set the fastest lap in the process. Foret moved through on Fujiwara on lap 7 in a forceful move to take 2nd place, Casoli was still out in front, Curtain was holding down 4th with a couple of bike lengths over MacPherson. Muggeridge and Pitt had a near coming together with Pitt coming down heavily and being taken away by the medical staff, awake but quite hurt. Kevin Curtain pulled a brilliant move on lap 8 to take 3rd spot off Fujiwara. Foret then moved through on Casoli for the lead, a few corners later Curtain also moved through on Casoli. Curtain hold on to 2nd for a little over half a lap before Casoli took the advantage again while Foret had cleared out to the tune of a few bike lengths in the lead. MacPherson relegated Fujiwara to 5th and then moved past Curtain for 3rd a few laps later. Foret, Casoli and MacPherson then pulled out some time over the 4th placed Curtain with 5 laps to run. A lap later bikes started falling like nine pins after Teuchert's engine went bang in a big way, people going in to the protective barriers, then bikes flying in after them and just missing them, the bikes of other riders following were going in so hard that it was sheer luck that nobody got severely hammered by a bike as the results would have been catastrophic to say the least. As it turned out only one rider looked really hurt, amazing as if you see the footage I can guarantee it will be some of the scariest you will ever see. The race was declared with Foret taking the win from MacPherson, Paolo Casoli 3rd and Australia's Kevin Curtain just off the podium with a brilliant 4th place finish. The championship will now come down to the final round at the end of the month with only Foret and Fujiwara having a chance of lifting the title. Foret will have to have a terrible result in order for Fujiwara to make up the 16 point gap however. Andrew Pitt realistically can hope to maybe finish in 4th position but is a remotely possible 3rd should anything untowards happens to Chambon in the final.
