Honda’s Karl Muggeridge took sixth place in today’s 11th round of the World Supersport championship here at Assen in Holland. The Australian rider achieved his third top six finish of the year in a race stopped on the 12th lap, five laps short of the scheduled 16 when Kellner’s engine blew up and 5 riders (Cruciani, Daemen, Veneman, Frost, and Cogan) crashed on the oil that was all over the track. “I’ve fluffed the start again and dropped down to 14th position going into the first corner but I still felt I had a good chance of being with the leaders after I worked my way through the field and got back to 7th by the 4th lap. Then I just missed the gap that Ian MacPherson caught and so lost the tow to the first five riders since I got hold up a bit by a few slower ones, “ Muggeridge said. “I’m quite happy to get a finish under my belt and the team worked hard and well all weekend. But we are still having some problems with the rear shock absorber, hopefully we can sort it out for the last race at Imola. Fabien Foret took the win and increased his Championship lead to 17 points, second took Foret’s team mate MacPherson just three thousands of a second in front of Paolo Casoli, which had to be decided by a photo finish.
