Andrew Pitt - "It is
just such a relief to take that first win, and to do it at home makes it
all that more special."
Piergiorgio Bontempi -
"I did start confident to be able to get a good result, in the top five
maybe. To finish runner-up is a prize for me and the job and the
devotion of all the team members managed by Franco Farnè and Marco
Mozzone. Everybody has been fantastic and I wish to thank them. It has
been a very hard race, with a terrible warm weather, but as the machine
as the tyres did perform perfectly. Our machine still misses a bit of
acceleration, while I am faster when I enter the corner and in the first
part. So when I have been able to leave the group I have been able to
run free and doing my race without anybody to disturb me. At the
beginning I scored the race fastest lap too, then the hot slowed
everybody. I got pains for the warm air from the engine under my right
foot, but everything is passed under the chequered flag! Now South
Africans round is waiting for us, if we go on to work with this spirit
we will have more satisfactions."
Fabien Foret - "I am not very happy as I know I could have finished in
the top five, that would have left me at the top of the championship.
But another rider collided with my swingarm in the middle of the last
turn and it pushed me off the track."
Iain MacPherson - "I'm getting settled in with the bike each time I ride
it, we're working to tailor the bike to my riding style and I'm very
impressed with the hard work that the Ten Kate Honda team, Pirelli tyres
and WP Suspension have all put in for me."
Karl Muggeridge - “I had a great time out there until I had to retire,
but the bike felt really excellent, I had heaps of grip and the breaks
worked well. We’ve tried a different set-up in the morning warm-up which
gave a much more balanced feel and it seemed to have been the right
choice. I was able to ride the CBR really smooth and I’m sure I could
have kept my 4th position and maybe even take a podium place, it was
good fun. We made huge progress this weekend and know which direction we
have to go now, I’m really looking forward to the next round at Kyalami
in South Africa.”
Chris Vermeulen - “The suspension wasn’t right and after about 5 laps
the front tyre was almost impossible to ride. My lap times went up to
the high 1’39’s and you can’t expect to win like that. It’s more points
in the championship but I’m not happy. We’ve tested here and we should
have been more competitive."
Jörg Teuchert - "I had a good fight throughout the race and I am pleased
because this is my best result here. My bike was very fast on the
straight and I got a good start. I was maybe a little too careful into
the first corner and I got passed by Chambon and a couple of other
riders. My lap times on the second to sixth laps were not good enough to
allow me to catch the leaders and then there was a lot of passing and
re-passing, which held the second group up. Compared to my usual Phillip
Island result, I am happy."
Christian Kellner - "I could have maybe finished higher but I made a
mistake on one of the corners. I normally go round it in second gear but
this time I went round in third, so I ran wide onto the dirt and lost
some time. I could not make the gap up again. But I am relatively happy
because this is also my best result here, and I am fourth in the
championship - it could be a lot worse."
James Whitham - "I have no idea why I fell off because I was riding very
easily and expected a good result after being the fastest in morning
warm up - and having a tyre which I knew would go race distance. I
really wasn't pushing the front at all, so I'm really gutted to crash.
Nothing could have been set up better for us to have a good result here,
so I'm really disappointed with myself - I really wasn't pushing hard
when I fell. But I have no excuses."
Paolo Casoli - "I had many slides from the rear tyre but not even one
single slide from the front before I lost it at Siberia. Pitt was riding
very aggressively but for me first or second would have been a good
result after Valencia. I am really disappointed, and confused as to why
the front just went with no warning."
