Honda Rider Karl Muggeridge finished 7th fastest in today’s opening
qualifying session for round four at the Sugo
circuit in Japan. Muggas was feeling confident for a provisional front row and he was charging towards pole position on his last lap with 2 tenths faster than Fujiwara’s best lap time after the second split, but a little mistake in the last chicane forced him to be happy with 7th position for the first day of the Japanese round. Muggeridge is joined in the team, for the Sugo event only, by Japanese rider Tatsuya Yamaguchi who replaces John McGuinness who continues his recovery from pneumonia. Muggas being happy with the progress so far commented: “We’re reasonably close to a good set-up, there is a little bit of a chatter problem from the rear, but we should be able to sort that out till tomorrow. The bike is feeling quite good, the speed is not too bad and the Pirelli’s work well. "I’m half a second behind pole position at the moment, which is better than what we had at the previous rounds, but the good news is that we know that I loose them all in the last split. I’m confident that we can improve that section, remembering that in last years race the chicane was my strongest part. I think we should be in good shape for the final qualifying session." Japanese rider Fujiwara showed the European’s how to burst through the last chicane and set a new best lap time with 1’32.852 only one thousand of a second ahead of Ten Kate rider Fabien Foret.
