Honda’s Karl Muggeridge was a first lap retirement in today’s fifth round of the World Supersport championship here at Monza in Italy.

Muggeridge starting from eighth place on row two of the grid was looking to secure his first podium finish of the year before clutch trouble forced him out of the race in the opening lap.

Muggas already noticed on the sighting lap that there was something wrong with the clutch and they tried to fix it on the start grid but it wasn’t possible to get it right before the lights turned green.

”I’m struggling to believe the amount of bad luck we’re having this year,” said Muggeridge. “I was ready for a good race and looking to challenge for a win here but it was all over by the first corner.”

It’s really disappointing the weekend started so good, we came pretty fast to a decent race set-up, the engine felt strong and everything was looking very promising.

Fabien Foret took his second win of the season followed by Chris Vermeulen and Japanese rider Katsuaki Fujiwara.
