Fabien Foret took pole position thanks to his Friday time, with the Ten Kate Honda rider keeping the threat of Katsuaki Fujiwara (Alstare Suzuki) at bay.

Third fastest was Fujiwara’s team mate Stephane Chambon, who went quicker than he managed on Friday, to join fourth place qualifier Andrew Pitt (Kawasaki Racing Team) on the front row.

Stand-in Van Zon Honda rider Robert Ulm scored an excellent fifth place on the grid, one place ahead of Christophe Cogan (BKM Honda).

The highest-placed local rider proved to be Yamaha Belgarda pilot Paolo Casoli, with his English team-mate James Whitham 12th.

Iain MacPherson (Ten Kate Honda) qualified 9th, despite hitting his knee on the track so hard he was forced to stop near the end of the final session.
