Colin Edwards got away well in race 1 and immediately pulled a gap on Hodgson who may have held Bayliss up somewhat as the Australian could not get up in to 2nd until only a couple of lap from the end.  Edwards took to the grid with the intention of making it five race wins in a row.

Edwards got a great run off the line, Bayliss again had a great charge from the 2nd row to have 2nd place in turn 1.  Broc Parkes also got an awesome run off the line for an early 5th position, Haga relegated him to 6th later on lap 1, then Chili shifted him back to 7th.

Colin Edwards immediately set a cracking pace in the 1m26s bracket (nearly a second under the lap record), Bayliss matching it from half a second behind while Hodgson was a further half a second behind in 3rd.  Ben Bostrom 4th.

On lap 3 Colin Edwards went faster again with a 1m26.5, faster than qualifying pace.  Bayliss was trying to stay with him but in the early stages did not have the pace as Edwards streaked away to a 1.5 second lead.  Haga went through on Ben Bostrom for 4th.  Parkes was pushed right back to 11th.

Colin Edwards continued his 1m26s laps to stretch his gap on Bayliss to nearly 3 seconds.  Edwards was the only man running 1m26s laps.  Haga started to challenge Hodgson for 3rd and dropped Bostrom off somewhat.  Ruben Xaus then relegated Ben Bostrom to 6th with 15 laps to run.

Bayliss continued to try hard but he could not gain any ground on Edwards, in fact Edwards continued to walk away.  Walker and Lavilla had a fantastic battle with Lavilla for 9th but Walker's Kawasaki started having problems with only a few laps remaining which allowed Lavilla to escape.

Edwards took a clear and dominant win to take his 5th win in a row and close the points gap to Bayliss down to 29 points.
