Things haven't gone so well for me since that
crash at Oschersleben where I tore a ligament
in my knee. At Imola I felt better, but I was still a few weeks off full fitness. I didn't manage to get into Superpole, which is always a disappointment. Last year I finished sixth and fifth here so I was obviously hoping for a good performance again this year. In race one I took a while to get in the groove. When you're not 100% fit like this it can take a while to work out just how hard you can push. In the circumstances I'm not too disappointed with 13th. In race two I was all set for a better finish until I ran into trouble. The bike started to cut out, I think it was exactly the same thing that happened to us in Lausitzring. I went from about 14th to 22nd in no time. It came back in, but it wasn't 100% for the rest for the race. I ended up 14th again by the end of the race. Now I'm getting ready to head home to Australia. But I won't be home for long as I've probably got some testing duties with Ducati again in Europe. Now it's all over we are well and truly into the silly season when rumours fly around like mosquitoes on a hot summer evening! Most of them are way off the mark and to be honest, you never can tell exactly what's true and false until we all line up for the grid next year at Valencia. I'm 99% sure I'll be racing in World Superbikes again next year, most likely with Pirelli on a Ducati again. I'll let you know as soon as anything is signed, sealed and delivered.
