HM Plant Ducati/GSE Racing rider Neil Hodgson will start tomorrow’s third round of the Superbike World Championship from fifth place on the grid. His team-mate James Toseland occupies tenth spot in the stating line-up. The Superpole laps were run at a furious pace – just 0.5s separated the top five riders – with Colin Edwards managing to go fastest.

Hodgson was relatively pleased with his best time of 1:41.825: “I love this circuit, so I’m really enjoying the whole event. I only missed out on a front row start by 0.1s and heading up the second row isn’t a bad position to be in. Last year I put in a 1:41.4 and I wanted to equal that, but the track is slightly rippled now because they have been racing trucks around it, and that knocked a fraction of a second off my time today. The HM Plant Ducati feels really good and I’m running a similar set–up to Phillip Island, which should help me in the tyre wear stakes. All things considered, I’m feeling very confident about tomorrow’s races.”

James Toseland continued to make progress and recorded an excellent Superpole time of 1:42.841. The rider of the #52 HM Plant Ducati had a good day and looked equally impressive on race tyres during the earlier qualifying practice.

“It’s been a productive day and I think that I’ve ironed out the problems that I had with set-up yesterday. The circuit is fantastic and my Dunlop tyres are performing really well all the way around it. The weather has been perfect, although rain has been forecast for tomorrow, and there are a lot of HM Plant Ducati/GSE Racing supporters at the circuit and that always gives me a real boost. This is a my kind of circuit and I’ll be going for a couple of big point-scoring finishes tomorrow, so to have a good section of the crowd cheering us on will be terrific.”
