Colin Edwards unbelievably dumped it on the warm up
lap! He managed to get up and going again and took his place on
the grid. Not only that, but he then got the holeshot.
Soon he was overhauled by Bayliss, Xaus and Haga but a couple of laps in to it and Edwards was back up to 2nd and chasing down Troy Bayliss on a still very wet Silverstone circuit but the rain had ceased. Haga quickly lost touch with the leaders and was pushed back to 8th. Edwards took the lead at the halfway mark of the race but Bayliss took him back a few laps later and built a two second lead. Edwards then whittled this back down a little with a few laps to run. Bayliss and Edwards started to scythe through lapped traffic and with two laps remaining they had just lapped Eric Bostrom and Peter Goddard. Edwards then seemed to settle for 2nd and let Troy Bayliss streak away to take the win.
