Shawn Giles on pole for this one, alongside him was Brookes, Stauffer and Coxhell. Craig Coxhell got away first and led the field through turn 1 before the order settled down under the bridge as Coxhell in front from Daniel Stauffer, Josh Brookes and Shawn Giles. But then Coxhell lost a lot of time through a problem somewhere on the track and Giles took up the mantle at the front of the pack with Stauffer in behind. But Stauffer then got a jump-start penalty which at these events in Australian Superbike means 20 seconds will be taken from his race time at the end of the race and he will lose however many places that translates to in the final wash up. Brookes slipped past Stauffer early on lap three but the Yamaha pilot took the spot right back a turn later to stick right with Giles. Coxhell continued to slip down the field, I can only guess that the machine is still a little damaged from his major spill yesterday and a problem has cropped up that they did not anticipate. The battle for the lead was clearly between Gilesy and Stauffer in the middle of the race as Brookes had lost just over half a second on his older foes. Stauffer took his turn out at the front on the penultimate lap but Gilesy quickly took the front spot back from him. A great battle was unfolding for 4th place between Brent George and Kirk McCarthy some 15 seconds behind the leaders.Stauffer won the race on the track by 4-hundredths of a second but with his 20 second penalty taken in to account he is relegated to third place behind Josh Brookes who moves up to 2nd courtesy of Stauffer's penalty. McCarthy just got Brent George for 4th.
